The Aegis Security Check is a fraud prevention process designed to verify that a payment card user is the legitimate owner of the card. It uses two randomized microcharges to confirm card ownership before allowing a full transaction to proceed.
How much time do I have to complete the verification?
You must return to the Aegis platform and enter the microcharge amounts within a specified time window. This ensures timely verification and prevents delays in your transaction.
How many attempts do I get to enter the microcharge amounts?
Aegis allows a limited number of attempts to enter the correct microcharge figures. If unsuccessful, the card is blocked and the transaction is canceled.
What happens to the microcharges after verification?
Once verification is successful, the two microcharges are added back to your final payment amount to the merchant. If verification fails, the charges are reversed and refunded to your card account.
What if I don’t agree to the microcharge process?
If you decline the microcharge verification, you will not be able to proceed with the transaction through the Aegis system. This process is mandatory for fraud protection.
Why is this process necessary?
The microcharge verification ensures that only the legitimate cardholder can authorize the transaction. It adds an extra layer of security against card misuse and fraud.
